Construction Update May 27th, 2018
Praise the Lord!
The roof on the workshop and garage is finally going on. For us it is nothing less then the hand God. We are so thankful for this stage being completed because rainy season has arrived.

Construction Update January 25th, 2017
Well we are certainly making headway towards the completion of Phase I of our construction program for the new Casa de Mi Padre. Phase I consists of the entire perimeter of the property. On parts of the sides and rear we have strung barbed wire fencing. For the front and front-side walls we have built walls out of block and stucco. As you can see in the pictures to the right, we have almost gotten one wall complete and are working diligently on the other wall. The entry way is complete minus the actual gates which are being built right now. Take the time to view the slide show and it will give you an idea of how far along we are.
Also you will see some images of the continuing well water project. According to the gentlemen pictured who are digging the well, we are at a depth of 78 meters or 256 feet. They are continuing to dig BY HAND and are also using a jack hammer as they are at a very solid layer of volcanic rock. They are hoping once they get through that layer, they will hit a depth where the water is rapidly replenished. We DO have water right now but they are hoping to get a little deeper so the water will fill the well much more rapidly than it is dong right now.
Keep praying for all that are working on the land and for God's supply as we continue to trust Him for all we need to continue the work He has called us to do.
This latest update brings us a video update from Shane straight from the land God has provided for our new home. So much has happened since our last update and things are really starting to move along very nicely. The will is nearing completion, we are close to having electricity to the land, the front gate entrance is complete minus the doors, and the south front wall is almost complete, but still needing the finish put on. All in all the Lord has blessed us and allowed us to accomplish a very large amount of work in a short period of time. As we near completion of phase one, which is to complete work on the perimeter, including the front wall and entrance, we will begin work on phase two, which will be the garage/workshop. Once that is complete then we will be ready for phase three , which will be construction of the actual house.
Construction Update December 12th, 2016
We are making much progress on getting the perimeter of the property secured. This is stage one of our construction plan. We have had to make some changes to the layout of the front entrance and wall because the city of Santa Cruz went ahead and lowered the elevation of the road by about 15 feet. This has altered the way were going to do our entrance and so we have had to move part of a wall we already built to accommodate a new access road that will run parallel to the front of our property and then turn into the front gate entry. Hopefully you can tell by the pictures in the slide show what we are doing.
We also have GREAT NEWS on the digging of our well. The men have gotten down to almost 225 feet and have finally begun to hit some water. They are now having to take buckets of water out as well as buckets of dirt. They are going to continue to dig until the hole fills up with water at a pace they can no longer keep up with. But the great news is that they have finally begun to tap into water. Just keep praying that we reach a level where water is abundant.
We continue to pray that God raises up more teams who will have the burden to come down and join us. Construction Update October 7th, 2016
After a brief delay while we waited to see if the city was going to lower the road level in front of our property, we have resumed work on the construction of the front wall, gate, and driveway. As you can see by the pictures to the right we are moving right along.
This week we have had Mike and Shirley Barondeaux visiting with us. Shirley, along with Janice Seimears, have been helping out at the house while Mike has been working out at the Land. Mike, pictured in the blue shirt, just jumped right in and started helping with whatever needed done. He helped build some scaffolding in front of the gate structure as well as dug a trench for electrical conduit that will power the gate from the house once it is constructed.
It has been such a help to have people come down from the United States to help us during these early days of the construction process. We are praying God raises up more teams who will have the burden to come down and join us. Construction Update August 28th, 2016
Things are moving right along and just this week we FINALLY got electicty on site. This has been a very long process but we finally got the poles put in and the transformer added. This is a huge step forward for us and not only necessary for the future but also right now as we are using much in the way of tools and equipment that need electical power to work.
You will also see from the images to the right that the structure is now in place for the front gate entry to the house and property. Security is essential here in Guatemala and so the need for a gated entry is essential.
As always our kids are involved in regularly helping out on the new site and many of them enjoy having a hand in helping to build their new house. What a joy it is to see them so involved.
Construction update August 13th, 2016
We are still in the beginning stages of our construction project which will take approximately 3-4 years to complete. This past week we had a team from Colorado down to help us with the installation of perimeter fencing around our entire property with concrete posts and barbed wire. We have also made the columns that will serve as gated entrances once we get to that point. We have also completed work on a retaining wall on the northwest corner of our property. It is important that we get our property secure and our perimter set before we begin on the structures we will be building which are the house and the garage/workshop.
Overall things are moving along and we could not be more excited. Take a moment to enjoy the slide show on this page for a visual presentation of the progress we are making

Thank you Becky and team for coming down to Guatemala and helping us build the perimeter fence!
